English version:

AFVD opposes dissolution of EFAF

Upon request of a third of EFAF member federations the EFAF Board of Directors according to EFAF statutes has invited for an extraordinary General Assembly on November 4.

The federations that have submitted the request for an extraordinary General Assembly have done so to propose for dissolution of EFAF.

Dissolution of EFAF would have to be approved by a two-thirds majority of EFAF member federations. Currently there are 27 registered EFAF member federations. Therefore 18 member federations would have to vote in favour of dissolution of EFAF.

According to its Berlin Declaration of September 2, 2012, the AFVD recognizes EFAF as the legitimate governing body for American football in Europe and will continue to support EFAF. EFAF has pioneered the development of American football in Europe. EFAF is fully functional and has a thoroughly planned tournament calendar including European Championships on all age levels and in all categories until 2014.
Subsequently AFVD sees no reason to dismantle this successful and time-proven structure and replace it with other procedures that until now lack every proof of viability or effectiveness. Whoever takes action to dismantle the current structures is harming American football in Europe - without any necessity, without any reason and without considering the consequences of such actions.

Therefore AFVD will vote against the dissolution of EFAF at the upcoming General Assembly. After consultations with numerous national federations throughout Europe AFVD has to assume there will be no two-thirds majority for a proposal of dissolution of EFAF.
