Successful ECA General Assembly at Frankfurt

The European Cheerleading Association (ECA), the continental association of the International Federation of Cheerleading (IFC), was in session on February 6, 2016 in Frankfurt (Main). The general assembly was very well-attended, including 18 delegates eligible to vote, which could be seen as evidence that the successful holding of the Cheerleading World Championship on November 21-22, 2015 in Berlin provides further boost for ECA and IFC.

The delegates accepted the report on activities by the president Vojko Korosec (SLO) representing the executive board. President Korosec thanked the German association for successfully hosting the Cheerleading World Championship which was a milestone in the history of the European and international cheerleading. As Asia before, the European continental association was once again able to prove that major events, like a world championship, operate well when applying a rotation system and not necessarily have to take place at the same location each time. The Max-Schmeling-Halle offered a perfect event venue for the athletes.
Beside the world championship, the European championship held in Zadar (Croatia) on June 27-28, 2015 was also a big success. The organizers provided an excellent infrastructure and appealing surroundings.
Moreover, the financial report of the vice-president and treasurer Ramona Marshall (GER) was accepted. The cash auditors certificated exemplary accountancy and propose the approval which was declared unanimously by the general assembly.

The next European championship will take place on July 9-10, 2016 in Koper (Slovenia).

The general assembly decided, beside the usual rules and rule changes, to implement a closed meeting to discuss the strategic direction of the ECA. Beside the executive board, also the members of the committee and representatives from member associations should participate. This meeting will be part of the initiative “vision 2020“ of the IFC which fits into the strategic action plan of the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF).
The delegates left Frankfurt (Main) with the positive feeling of further promoting cheerleading.
